The best time of year for a city trip to Milan

Best Time to Visit Milan: High Season vs. Low Season

The high season in Milan runs from April to October. During these months, the city is at its best: pleasant temperatures ranging from 15°C to 30°C, blooming parks, and numerous outdoor events. The fashion months of September and February, during Fashion Weeks, are particularly attractive. The downside: higher prices for accommodations, longer lines at attractions, and crowded restaurants. In August (with high temperatures around 30°C), many Milanese leave the city, which can lead to closed establishments.

The off-season from November to March offers travelers several advantages. The city is less crowded, accommodation prices are lower, and you can explore Milan at a more leisurely pace. While the winter months are cool (temperatures between 0°C and 10°C) and often foggy, they have their own charm: Christmas markets, festive lights, and the chance to enjoy world-famous museums without the crowds. A highlight is the opera season at La Scala, which begins on December 7. Pack some warm clothes, and you’ll find that Milan remains a fascinating destination for culture and art lovers even in the off-season.
